“Doing same things everyday will not deliver new results. To change the results you are getting, you must change the things you are doing.”
Our brain is hard-wired with certain style of habits that each one of us possess. Let us discuss how we can re-wire our brain to adapt the changes needed to create success.
Actions and Consistency:
We all believe that Knowledge is power. But knowledge is only a potential power. It becomes powerful only when we use it and act on it. Simply acting once will not do, it must be consistent. Successful people are the ones who are the most consistent. Consistency acquires over time.
But the biggest challenge is that most of our brain is hard wired in our subconscious mind. There is always a big inertia which prevents us from adapting new style of actions and creating a new habit. The result is that the transformation we want to achieve simply remains as a long drawn objective. Let us understand the steps to overcome such situations.
Step 1: Use your knowledge and decide what should be the action to improve the situation.
Step 2: Do it consistently for 66 days since our brain takes 66 days to install a new habit.
But this is slightly tricky as the brain will try to oppose it when you change your habit by doing new actions. It would resist you and compel you to go back to your old habits and put you back to your original comfort style. You must convince your brain to let you do the new steps/ actions. During this process, our nervous system will go through a state called neuroplasticity. This requires your sincere efforts, and the success depends on how consistently you do it. People give up very fast due to their fear of failures or lack of the belief towards the result. But the actual failure happens only when we give up!
How do we re-wire our brain? There are many ways.
- One way is to do Journaling. That is writing your goals and promise yourself that you will do it for creating better results. Repeat this every day and inculcate a habit of doing a positive affirmation.
- Another way is to make a Dashboard by writing your goal, planned actions and measurement of the score on daily basis. Keep looking at your dashboard frequently to re-program your brain to adapt the new style.
- You can also practice Solitude – a state of being alone and spend some time quietly thinking about your purpose and ask the reason why you should do it. If you don’t get a reason, you won’t get the result. installing a powerful belief system that would motivate you to drive your actions consistently. This one is very powerful step and like a meditation.
Remember – Without Change, there can be no growth!
Without Change, there can be no improvement!
Without Change, there would be no progress!
Let us re-program our subconscious mind and re-wire our brain for success
